THE EXPERIENCES

Discover our Experiences

Culture and food and wine, sea and nature are the heritage of the Tuscan coast.
Creating our proposed experience offerings begins with the richness of our territory: our guests will return home with unique memories and flavors of Tuscany. You can enjoy the panoramic views pedaling along the streets of the hills that cross ancient villages, taste fine wines from the Bolgheri area or discover small up and coming producers, combined with traditional foods.

You can experience our sea without worries, booking your relaxing moment at the beautiful beaches in the area, or enjoy water sports and water activities; express a wish and it will be transformed into an experience!

We are available to personalize our offerings according to your request.

Relais San baio only welcomes guests aged 16 and over and does not allow access to animals.

Tomboli di Cecina
Nature Reserve

The Tomboli di Cecina Nature Reserve is located at the Marina of Cecina and includes the Tomboli, long stretches of dunes that are covered with thick vegetation that stretch from the beach inland from the coast and represent a characteristic ecosystem created to protect the cultivated area from the sea winds.

The Reserve, extending for 15 kilometers, is one of the most beautiful Italian forests, rich with thick and varied vegetation that gradually changes as you go from the sea inland. Lilies and sea poppies bloom on the beach, while in the lower scrub junipers grow and in the higher scrub holly oaks, maritime pines and domestic pine thrive. The area offers a refuge to a variety of species of animals: wild rabbits, foxes, weasels, porcupines, roe deer and badgers. Among the birds, you will find turtle doves, green woodpeckers, hoopoes and wood pigeons which stay in the area for long periods of time.

Physical activity
and relaxation

The Nature Reserve is the ideal place for physical activities completely immersed in nature. Running, walking, biking and Nordic walking are popular daily on the various paths in the pine forest. In addition, at the entrance of the Marina Di Cecina ( the nature reserve connects the town of Cecina to the town of Bibbona) there is a fitness area where you can work out in the shade of the many pine trees. A unique and pristine area, ideal to spend a day at sea, have lunch under the canopy of the trees, do sports or enjoy the silence and the scent of the underbrush.

Cetacean Sanctuary

Il Santuario dei Cetacei, is the area of the Italian sea with the highest concentration of marine animals (cetaceans) and probably represents the area of the Mediterranean richest in wildlife. The basin is also the main feeding site for the fin whales in the Mediterranean.
The sanctuary became reality in 1999: it is an area of about 100,000 square kilometers that includes the waters of Liguria, Tuscany and Corsica.

Twelve species of marine mammals are represented: the fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus) the second largest animal in the world (second only to the blue whale), the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus), the common dolphin (Delphinus delphis), the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the striped dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba), the pilot whale (Globicephala melas), Risso’s dolphin (Grampus griseus), Curvier’s beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris). More rare, the minke whale, (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), the rough toothed dolphin (Steno bredanensis), the orca (Orcinus orca) and the false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens).

In the summer, the Sanctuary is a destination for guided tours to discover the marine environment and its inhabitants.

yoga

Yoga

To enrich our guests’ stays, we offer, upon request, the possibility to do yoga, meditation and muscle awakening outdoors and when not possible outdoors, in the dedicated room.

In some periods of the year, the Relais San Baio is pleased to offer to its guests the opportunity to have yoga lessons and meditations with our international instructor Doria Gani (@doriayoga).

Author of the book, “The Naked Yoga Effect”, as seen on BBC, in Cosmopolitan, The Sun Newspaper, and at the East End Film Festival of London, Doria first began with traditional yoga and only later nude yoga; this is what helped her to finally accept her new body and to reconnect with it after it was scarred by post cancer treatments.

Doria is available both for nude yoga and for traditional yoga lessons.
